Testimonials
“In July for the last ten years my brother in-law visits from the Oregon to fish the best trout waters in WNC. We have been to all the best rivers in the area and had only fair luck. I decided to hire a guide and chose Paul as I've really wanted to find the best fishing in this area and include both my brother in-law and his young son. That one day with Paul, we caught more trout each than we had in ten years and I landed a sixteen inch Brown which was spectacular! I had so much fun that I forgot to take pictures.”

“After Paul gave a talk to our business group about his fly fishing guide service, I hired him for a full day trip. I couldn’t have given a better birthday present to myself than that! He was very patient as I had never even touched a fly rod before. I caught some really pretty trout and had a wonderful time! Oh, his gourmet homemade chicken salad was also superb.”

“Paul did a great job of guiding us on the Watauga River in the fall of 2007. My son and I have been fly fishing together for many years. When he moved up to Boone to start school at Appalachian State University, I wanted to find a way for us to stay in touch and fishing was the one thing that had always bonded us together. The Watauga is close to Boone, and is well known for good trout fishing. I had always wanted to fish it, but, the river is so big and the fishing territory is so unique that I did not want to spend the little time we had on his one free weekend trying to find where and how to fish it. Paul put us into some very nice fishing spots that I could have never found on my own, and he showed us some techniques that not only allowed us to catch some nice trout that day but have allowed us to catch more trout in other rivers as well. Being the dutiful father, I let Paul work mostly with my son and he did a great job in providing just the right amount of instruction and guiding. He provided me with great instruction too, and I have to admit, that after a long work week it was great to let Paul tie on all the special leaders and knots, add on occasional droppers, and even untangle us from time to time. He did all of this in a professional, friendly manner and he was always ready to help.
I would recommend Paul to anyone that wants to catch trout and learn new fishing methods. Not only is he a good guide, but, he is also a pleasant conversationalist and a nice person to spend the day with. Beginners will find his patience and willingness to teach very useful, and experienced fishermen can also learn from him, especially if they are not familiar with the big trout rivers he knows so well, like the Watauga and the South Holston Rivers.”
